I’m very sad to tell that Marien Van Oers, one of my best friends passed away at January the 8th. He died after being ill for 2 months. I knew Marien from the best café in Breda ever: The Zanetti, a surrealistic “underground” hangout for everyone in Breda who was different. Marien organized several special “happenings” in Zanetti like “cocktailparty” and the “space-party”. he made a soundtrack of several hours on cassette on which you could hear the left-off of spacecraft Zanetti, the journey and return. Also i organized some theatre things with him like “De Karavaan Der Dolende Kunsten” (caravan of wandering arts), which was a procession of self built rafts on the waters of Breda. At the end of the day there were performances, concerts and a big party in Zanetti’s. Another thing was the Uracsi theatre spectacle in which the fall of Icarus was interpreted. Besides that Marien was always making music and also building objects with found materials. All together he was a very friendly guy who made the small town Breda interesting, one of the few. On some occasions i noticed he was a little bit sad about the minimal response.

Marien gave me a lot of music during the years i knew him and from this music i created a compilation CD (in a serial of 180 pieces).

This CD was given away at the big “party” with an open stage in Het Hijgent Hert.
